| A Sunny Autumn Day Down South |

| I had a HQ meeting planned for
the Monday, so jumped in the car early doors on Sunday,
and started south in the gloom and mist. The forecast
was a gradual improvement during the morning so the
first call was East Midlands. It was difficult to see
anything but a few decent visitors emerged from the fog. |

| Quickly back in the car and
heading south, with the cloudbase lifting. Luton was
busy, and one improvement is the east side short stay
car park is now 2 hours free, and the MSCP that had a
bad fire is now fully in use. Highlight at Luton was the
A319CJ NEO UK888, unfortunately not shootable!! One
other point, the Holiday Inn car park is now completely
out of bounds, with no “Free” period, so take care. |

| A quiet M25, so at Heathrow in
40 minutes. The sun was coming out, and they were on
easterlies, so I parked up T5 and walked up to the
“mound”. This is my favourite shooting place at
Heathrow, and I spent 4 hours in clear blue skies. Just
walk towards the M25 and you will come across the mound,
next to the Pod monorail track, and the T5 taxi rank,
there were around 20 spotters here. The car park isn’t
cheap £26.50 for 4 hours, but certainly worth it. |

| Back on the M25 heading south,
I had seen a couple of PC12’s arriving on FR24, so took
the Chertsey exit and headed to Fairoaks. Once through
the entrance, turn right and park up next to the flying
school, anything parked is right in front of you. They
allegedly don’t like spotters, but had no issues at all. |

| Whilst in HQ a few Luton
spotters mentioned a Vietnamese G650 arrival, along with
2 4K- Gulf’s so decided to call in on the journey home.
Thankfully traffic was lighter than usual, and all 3
were still in, although the VN- was parked in the pond,
so I needed to drive up to the Fire Station, and keep
moving as the red lines mean fines!! So all in all a
decent haul of 34 new frames, and some decent shots. |
